The Cambridge Inter-Faith Programme offers a distinctive scholarly approach to religious learning and understanding across the three Abrahamic traditions. Through its long-term perspective and commitment to academic excellence, it will be formative in the development of future generations of scholars, teachers, citizens and leaders.

The University of Cambridge is committed to an ambitious and timely initiative that has the potential to help transform the world's understanding of Islam, Judaism and Christianity. The Cambridge Inter-Faith Programme builds on the University's strengths in theology and religious studies and its pioneering work in the study of the three Abrahamic traditions. It is establishing the solid academic foundations that are essential if a broader dialogue between the faiths is to lead to fuller understanding and mutual respect. Cambridge is determined to be a global leader in this field.
The Cambridge Inter-Faith Programme is entering the final year of the feasibility study and through a series of consultations and pilot projects we have been able to refine research priorities and plans for public education programmes both in Cambridge and London.
On the public education side, this has involved working with the exhibition and design firm, Ralph Appelbaum Associates to produce a Visualised Concept Study for The Cambridge Abraham Project. The study will be completed in October and will give a an idea of the content and design of the London end of The Cambridge Inter-Faith Programme’s work.
In collaboration with St Ethelburga’s Centre for Reconciliation and Peace and with The Three Faiths Forum, we have been developing a new Scriptural Reasoning website, www.scripturalreasoning.org. This will be expanding to offer resources and guidelines to develop the practice of Scriptural Reasoning as a civic practice. Keep an eye out as the site develops.
The Cambridge Inter-Faith Programme has been delighted to be involved in the historic launch and receipt of an exceptional document from 138 Muslim leaders to the Christian world. ‘A Common Word’ is a statement of love and friendship from people of one faith to those of another underlining two of the most important teachings of both the Qur’an and the New Testament: love of God and love of neighbour. The document is unique in bringing together representatives from all the schools and traditions of Islam in a common declaration of friendship to the Christian world.
