'I very much enjoyed my time as a graduate in Cambridge. The faculty was friendly and stimulating; the libraries were some of the best in the world; the beauty of the fens and the colleges, and the gentleness of their inhabitants, made it a wonderful place to live and work. I had outstanding supervisors and many opportunities for interaction with colleagues in other disciplines.'
Professor of Christian Theology Department of Theology and Religious Studies, University of Bristol
My time at the Divinity School, Cambridge was hugely rewarding. International theologians dropped in and out of Cambridge and meeting them, hearing them speak and discuss matters, widened my theological education beyond any expectations. As did our great Faculty. Working with other students who loved the subject and were highly able, sometimes shockingly so, also ensured a constantly challenging environment which meant educational formation through friendships - a very special experience. My supervisor, Julius Lipner, was consistently supportive and a great model of wisdom and balance, and through my many meetings with him (and as a group, with his other research students), I really got to grips with my thesis. The College system also provides a good community of friends from varying walks ensuring interdisciplinary education over good food and wine. Negative elements: having to leave, never quite encountering such a good research library, and missing the beauty of the fens.
