Non-standard loan lengths

Most books in the Library can be borrowed for the maximum length, depending on which category of borrower you are (see borrowing allowance), and whether the book will be recalled or not. The following are the exceptions:

Temporary Reserve books & Pamphlets = books in highest demand (primarily for Tripos papers), need to be requested at the Issue Desk. These must be consulted in the Library, but will be issued to your account for 3 hours at a time. They cannot be recalled, or renewed.

Reference = marked with a red spine label, and an 'R' in the inside front cover. These may not be borrowed, and are mainly in Section 1.

Short Loan = marked with a yellow spine label, and an 'S' in the inside front cover.  These may be borrowed for two days.

Rare books and archive books = need to be requested at the Issue Desk. These must be consulted in the Library, but will be issued to your account for 3 hours at a time. They cannot be recalled, or renewed.
