Kant Reading Group

Kant Seminar | Easter Term

Religion within the Bounds of Bare Reason

We continue our Kant seminar with the reading and analysis of Die Religion innerhalb der Grenzen der bloßen Vernunft (1793), a work Kant hoped that would be suitable for use as compulsory reading for a philosophy class that theology students of the future would be required to take in their final year of study.

We will be using the German edition of Bettina Stangneth (2003), and the English translation of Werner S. Pluhar (note: you have Online access to the book through the University Library).

The first half of the gathering will be spent in reading the text; the second half, in discussion.
