The Faculty is home to a diverse range of research and of research-led teaching both by senior members of the faculty and the colleges, and by postdoctoral researchers.

The subjects taught and researched in the Faculty of Divinity are formally grouped into broad subject areas, each with a Subject Committee and a Convenor: Old Testament, New Testament, Christian Theology, History of Christianity, Philosophy of Religion, Religious Studies (Jewish Studies, Indian religions, Islamic Studies, World Christianities and the study of religion).

Other subjects are increasingly being grouped less formally, including the work of interdisciplinary and cross-faculty research groups.
