Cambridge-Langham Award

The Divinity Faculty Board at Cambridge University and Langham Partnership are pleased to offer the Cambridge-Langham Award for an outstanding doctoral student from the Majority World (Two-Thirds World) in biblical studies, theological studies, and World Christianity at Cambridge University, starting in September 2015.

The Divinity Faculty has a long and distinguished tradition of training high quality research students, and the joint scholarship award with Langham Partnership is designed to give a PhD scholar from the Majority (Two-Thirds) World access to its world-class research facilities.

Langham Partnership is a registered Christian charity in the evangelical tradition, which grows out of the international ministry of the Reverend Dr John Stott, who was a graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge, and of Ridley Hall.

Over the past 30 years Langham Partnership has helped to sponsor over 300 scholars to complete PhD degrees, and currently supports 30 students in the UK and Europe. Over the past three decades, seventeen doctoral students have gained their PhDs at Cambridge University with the support of Langham Partnership. Former Langham Scholars work in a range of Christian ministries, including college and seminary Principals and Presidents, Academic Deans, Lecturers, Bishops, and leaders of Christian agencies. Funds for Langham’s scholarship scheme come from the giving of Christian individuals, churches and trusts. The Cambridge-Langham Award is jointly funded by Langham Partnership and Cambridge University and is worth up to £25,000 per annum towards university fees and personal study and maintenance costs. Starting in September 2015, the PhD sponsorship will be awarded for up to 3 years, depending on satisfactory progression. It is open to applicants from the Majority World (Two-Thirds World) who can demonstrate outstanding academic abilities and agreement with the aims and ethos of Langham Partnership. Applications are invited in the fields of biblical studies, theology, and World Christianity.

Applicants should apply both to Cambridge University and Langham Partnership, and on each application indicate clearly that they intend to apply for the “Cambridge-Langham Award”.
