The 2022/23 competition rules

  • This year's theme is Cambridge in Your Classroom.
  • The competition is open to all UK* students in Years 9 to 13. *Students from England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man are all welcome to participate.
  • The deadline to submit entries is 1 March 2023 and winners will be announced at the Faculty Open Day on the 25th April 2023.
  • There is a prize fund of £500 to be split between the winning and commended entries (Year 9-11 category and Y12-13 category). Winners will be notified in April 2023.
  • Films must be inspired by one of the Cambridge in Your Classroom videos, You can use the Cambridge in Your Classroom video as well as any of the related 'Explore Further' Cambridge resources as inspiration.
  • You can interpret the theme in your own way, use a documentary or fictional genre, set your film anywhere in the world and in any religious or philosophical tradition. We are looking for originality, accuracy, and a direct response to one or more of the Cambridge in Your Classroom questions. Make the film your own! In the past films have included interviews and conversations, images and diagrams, drama, news-style reporting, music videos and more. We don't judge on the quality of the film making or the equipment you use.
  • You can enter as an individual or in a group of up to three.
  • Films must be no longer than 5 minutes’ duration.
  • Make sure that you have permission to use the images and music in your video, and include references to any sources. You must include the following text in your film: This film has been inspired by the Cambridge in Your Classroom resource The views and opinions in this film are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect those of any member of the Faculty of Divinity, University of Cambridge


How to enter

1. Upload your film to YouTube and set the privacy settings of your video to 'unlisted' - this will mean that the video can only be viewed by people who have the direct link.

2. Complete the online entry form by 1st March 2023 for a chance to win a share of the £500 prize fund. Remember to read our Privacy notice.
