Junior Library Assistant

(20h per week, term-time only, grade 2, initially fixed-term for 12 months)

The Divinity Library wishes to recruit a Junior Library Assistant to help with Issue Desk duties, shelving and reader enquiries. The successful applicant will be joining a small, dedicated library team providing a high quality service to meet the needs of users working in religious studies. Having worked in a library as well as having an interest in repairing books is desirable.

All working hours will be at the issue desk, with cover for breaks provided. You will be expected to shelve newly-processed materials, as well as books returned from loan; also there will be other miscellaneous duties, such as oversight for the care of books, some data entry (e.g. receipting ordered books), checking of holdings and being involved in minor updating of catalogue holding records.

You will have a helpful and supportive attitude and be a good team worker with excellent communication, organisational and IT skills.

The vacancy is for term-time only (3x9 weeks, for term dates please see http://www.cam.ac.uk/about-the-university/term-dates-and-calendars). Work should commence on Monday 23 April 2018, or as soon as possible after that.

Hours of work will be 20 hours per week in term time only; ideally split across five days, Monday -Friday 9:45 - 14:15 with a 30 minute break, however, we can be flexible as long as the post holder can work on at least four days per week.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.
