Attending the Cambridge Alumni Festival this September? There’s an array of religion-relevant activities on offer, including a series put together by the Cambridge Interfaith Programme.
On Friday 26 September CIP hosts a rolling programme of workshops. Each activity includes refreshments and the chance to stay and chat with researchers after each session. Options include:
- God, midrash and linguistic creativity—with neurolinguists & rabbinic scholars
- A day in the life of medieval nepo-baby Abraham Maimonides—with the Genizah Research team
- Food & Faith—material approaches to inter-religious engagement (includes post-session lunch)
- Is song a route to peace or conflict?—chance to test your assumptions with Dr Ankur Barua
- Accidental anti-Judaism in Christian contexts—probing a problem with theological educators
As a thought-provoking pre-dinner option,* join Professor Julian Allwood (Chair of Engineering and Environment) and Professor Andrew Davison (Regius Professor of Divinity at the University of Oxford) to discuss the potential for faith to be a positive influence in how we respond to the climate crisis: Engineering, theology and climate change: a conversation.
*Dinner not provided! But you can enjoy a glass of elderflower or wine post-talk.
Further into the weekend, Alfred Landecker Lecturer Dr Marietta van der Tol will take to the Festival main stage, discussing democratic backsliding — look for The global impact of the Far Right.
Not a Cambridge Alum?
Events are often open for non-Alumni guests, so if spaces remain please don’t be shy to sign up.

Bookings open in July.
