The Faculty is delighted to hear that Ryan Comins, a first year doctoral student with Marieke Dhont and Katharine Dell, has been awarded a prestigious award by the International Organisation for Septuagint and Cognate Studies. The John W. Wevers Prize is awarded for an outstanding paper by an early career scholar. Ryan has been named as the 2023 recipient of the prize for his paper “The Linguistic Register of 3 Maccabees and its Sociocultural Implications”, which originated as part of his MPhil dissertation. The paper will be published in a forthcoming issue of the Journal of Septuagint and Cognate Studies.
