Faculty of Divinity

Staff and students at the Faculty of Divinity are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Jonathan Gilmour who was a PhD student working with Dr Daniel Weiss. He came to St John’s College as an undergraduate in Theology and Religious Studies in 2005 where he graduated with a first before obtaining his MPhil. He was aiming to complete his doctorate on the theological and religious language in Joseph B. Soloveitchik's discussion of the possibility of Jewish-Christian dialogue this year. Jonathan showed immense courage in overcoming serious disability to excel in his studies. He will be greatly missed and the Faculty sends its deepest sympathy to his family at this sad time.
