Faculty of Divinity

Susie completed her undergraduate at Keble College, Oxford (2015-2018) studying Philosophy and Theology. Following this, she spent 2 years working in the City, before going to study an MPhil in Social Anthropology (2020-21) at the University of Cambridge. During her Masters, she produced research on how privacy enabled the "belief-curious" to explore Christian faith during the pandemic. Susie did this through fieldwork on the Christian Alpha course, whose attendance tripled during the pandemic.

Susie is a third year PhD candidate at the Divinity faculty (University of Cambridge) undertaking an interdisciplinary project across Anthropology and Theology. She works with British Evangelicals studying the impact of the pandemic and social factors on evangelism and worship in Bradford and the North of England. Susie has just finished fieldwork and her current title is something like... "Raw Christianity: Anti-fragile church and Jesus Warriors on the spiritual battlefield of Bradford".

She undertakes this project as the holder of the Edward Bailey Studentship. With Joseph Webster, she is the co-founder of the Cambridge Anthropology-Theology (CAT). The CAT Network was founded in 2022 to champion a growing discussion between Anthropology and Theology. CAT runs 4 meetings a term over Zoom for those interested in both across the world. We want to create a productive intellectual space, where ideas can be shared across the disciplines. We currently have 200+ subscribers from over 15 countries.
