Details for the 2021 Theology & Literature study evening

The Faculty of English and the Faculty of Divinity are holding a joint study evening on Thursday 28th January 2021.

The event is aimed at students in Years 11 and 12 with an interest in literature, performance, theology, religion, and philosophy of religion - especially those who may be considering studying these subjects at university. However, if you are in Year 10 or Year 13 and feel you would benefit from attending, you are welcome to join us.

The topic of the session will be Voicing the Devil, and will be led by Dr Sophie Lunn-Rockcliffe and Dr Ross Wilson.

The discussion will centre on ideas of the devil, and in particular texts and liturgies which 'voice' Satan. A wonderful opportunity to enrich and extend your knowledge and understanding of the interplay between Religious Studies and Literature.

"Incredible lectures! Thought provoking." (2020 participant)

Programme

The event will be held online from 6-7pm GMT. Participants will enjoy two presentations and have the opportunity to ask questions.

Application

To apply, please complete the application form by Wednesday 27th January 2021. We hope to enable all applicants to attend, but if we are heavily oversubscribed, we will give priority to applicants currently attending UK state schools, currently attending an FE college, and those from under-represented geographical regions of the UK.
