Reading Religion & Conflict

The Faculty of English and the Faculty of Divinity are holding a joint study evening on Thursday 27th January 2022. The event is aimed at students in Years 11 and 12 with an interest in literature, performance, theology, religion, and philosophy of religion - especially those who may be considering studying these subjects at university. However, if you are in Year 10 or Year 13 and feel you would benefit from attending, you are welcome to join us.

Your speakers will be Dr Julia Snyder and Professor Phil Connell. The discussion will explore the use of violent imagery in early Christian texts, and will introduce seventeenth-century English literary texts that bear on the 1640-60 civil wars and the deep religious divisions they engendered.

"Incredible lectures! Thought provoking." (2020 participant)

The event will be held online from 6-7pm GMT. Participants will enjoy two presentations and have the opportunity to ask questions.
