Biography

Mark Smith's research focuses on the history and theology of the early church. His recent monograph, The Idea of Nicaea in the Early Church Councils, was published by Oxford University Press in December 2018. Dr Smith lectures in patristics, and is also Dean, and Director of Studies in Theology, at Clare College.

  • B6: Christianity in Late Antiquity
  • C20: Councils in Context

He also currently lectures on the Epistle of Jude for the Advanced New Testament Greek paper (C1b).
